Retirement Visa FAQ
How much does the Retirement Visa cost in Bali?
The total cost for Retirement Visa processing includes: (1) Government visa fees (~15 million IDR for initial application), (2) Sponsor fees (required local sponsor), (3) Immigration processing fees, (4) Multiple re-entry permit, and (5) Our professional service fees. Our complete Retirement Visa package typically ranges from 15-30 million IDR (~$885-$1,770 USD) for full end-to-end service. Contact us for a detailed, transparent quote including all costs.
Can I work or do business on a Retirement Visa?
No. The Retirement Visa (E33F) strictly prohibits working or conducting any business activities in Indonesia. This visa is designed solely for retirees living on pension, savings, or passive income. If you want to work or operate a business in Bali, you need an Investor KITAS which requires forming a PT PMA company. Violating work restrictions can result in visa revocation and deportation. However, you CAN engage in volunteer work, hobbies, and personal activities—just no paid employment or business operations.
Can my spouse (under 60 years old) get a visa too?
Yes! If you qualify for the Retirement Visa but your spouse is under 60 years old, they can apply for a Dependent/Spouse Visa (E31B) tied to your retirement visa. This allows both of you to live together in Bali legally. Your spouse’s visa will have the same validity period as yours and must be renewed at the same time. The dependent visa also prohibits working, but both of you can enjoy retirement together in paradise. We handle both applications simultaneously for couples.
How long can I stay on a Retirement Visa and what about renewals?
The initial Retirement Visa is issued for 1 year depending on your application. After the initial period, you can renew/extend the visa multiple times for a total of up to 5 years of continuous residence. Renewals are typically processed while you’re already in Indonesia—no need to leave the country. We send you reminders at least 3 months before expiration and handle the entire renewal process. After 5 years, if you wish to continue living in Bali, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residence (KITAP) or restart with a new Retirement Visa application.
